PostSubject: Harvest Moon Fans...HELP!   Sun Jul 12, 2009 12:14 am

Okay, so I've always been curious as to what these Harvest Moon games are about, they look pretty fun and addicting, sorta like Animal Crossing, but I look at professional reviews of these games from magazines like gameinformer and the scores are less than desirable yet some of my friends play them and say they are great, well I'm looking to buy a new game for my Wii or DSi and Harvest Moon came up and I'm kind of interested. I've narrowed it down to 2 choices, either Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility for the Wii or Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness for my DS. So what do you guys think? Which one should I get? Or should I just get a completely different game?

HM is not for hardcore gamers so thats why those websites gave bad reviews.
HM is for those who take a break with other games to play something more relaxing and cute(?).
IMO it was the most addicting game when I first got it.
8/10 for any of them.

on Nintendo Power magezine, tree of Tranquility got a 6.5 while Island of Happiness got a 7.0 so its a hard choice =/ i personally would pick the one for the wii 'cause its on a TV screen but I don't know

Yeah I know, it's just that those websites review every game their is and I have yet to meet someone who has played every game ever and has the time to review it, but I would always take a friends opinion over a magazines opinion, Gameinformer gave Pokemon Crystal a 6/10 and Crystal version is my favorite pokemon game ever so i don't always like going by their reviews which is why I'm asking for your opinion

I have been wondering the same thing, also I have a question. Is this based on real time, or in game time.

You mean the game right?
I know the game is based on a weird system of time that has a lot to do with months and seasons that pass by much faster than real months and seasons so to answer your question game time.

What I mean is, is does 1Min=1Hour in the game, or is it slower than that?

Oh I'm not entirely sure, I would think it might be a bit slower.

I don't agree with all their reviews but a lot of times they give pretty accurate depiction of what games are really great, I would have probably never bought Ninjatown or Tetris DS if it weren't for their reviews and that applies to quite a few of my other games too but yeah sometimes it does annoy me when they give a game I love a low score, but hey they are the best I've got and I always wanted a subscription to Nintendo Power, is it good?

Time goes by the game.
A whole day goes by pretty fast. You can also end the day early by going to bed.

Yeah Nintendo Power is pretty good. Not as cool as it used to be, but it's still pretty good. i've been getting Nintendo Power since I was in 6th grade (I'm in 10th now) and I've been also getting the old ones from flea markets. I currently have: Vol 44, 75, 106, 120, 170, 172, 174, 175, 184, 185, 187, 192, 194 (my first issue), 199-244 and counting. If you subscribe, they give you an issue of that month to see if you like it and if you do, you give them the money and you keep getting an issue every month. They even had the first Super Smash Bros. Brawl review.
