| Ok, so I was just layin down reading a book when I remembered a high school basketball game I was at. The crowd started chanting O-VER-RAT-ED when the other teams best player missed a shot. That made me think, there have been so many over-hyped, mainstream, bullshit, awful, disgusting, vomit-enducing, pieces of gross that made tons of money and were loved by the critics. My example? Titanic. That was awful. How about you?
EDIT: Woot, 200 posts. | |

| Digimon and Newcastle United. They might not be films or whatever but they are two things off the top of my head that were overrated. Oh, and SEGA. Just in general. | |

| :lol!: OK, maybe calling the whole of SEGA overratted was a little extreme, but it has sucked for a while now. It just annoys me that it still tries to compete with Nintendo - it overrates itself. | |

agreed. Sonic + sword = GTFO. Nuff said. Thankyou. Also, apparently SEGA is now making a racer, called something along the lines of 'Sonic and SEGA Superstars Racing'. WTF is the point in this when Sonic can already run at the speed of sound or whatever?

| The only reason 99% of the things are overrated is because people make them. Its just a group of people liking something and others jumping the bandwagon. Now what that being said, most of the overrated things/people are actually good. | |

It's like when there's a band that you love, but then so does everyone else. It makes it not special anymore. That's one of the reasons I love Iron Maiden so much - their music is awesome and no-one I know really likes them that much.

I really liked the first mario party when I was a little kid. But then they made, what, 7 sequels? It got awful after that. So whenever I play mario party nowadays (which is like .00000000000000000001$ of the time) I just play mini-games, screw the "board game" shit.

I agree, however this topic isnt about that. It's about that group of people that say things are overated saying that things are great. So basically what I'm saying is "What movies are considered great by movie critics but you think are overrated?" Not things that are already established as overrated.

Twilight, and that High School Musical bullshit, I mean they are basically the same thing, targeted for girls and then get the boys in on it to try to get in with girls, and I am so glad that I'm on summer break, because I am so tired of all the hype. I mean what are they gonna make next, College School Musical? I mean seriously, its bullshit.

You know, someone getting pregnant, wild parties where people are flat out drunk, people failing tests, dropouts, and all the other awful things that you can experience in college. If it's more of this bullshit where their only problems are "Should I star in a gigantic theatrical performance or should I play in the state championship?" Then once they're done with College Musical (if they do it) I hope they do Adult Musical, in which they show the trials of adulthood. I don't have to go into specifics here, but let me just say one thing. Bills.

It actually pisses me off that she's got like 50m hits on youtube for one song that wasn't even that entertaining. American Idol (I know you live in Britain, but w/e) has a 16 year old age limit. However they also have a 35 year old age limit for old people, which is wrong. They want a "poster boy/girl" so they can display youth and what not. If they got some 98 year old with an amazing voice they'll make like $3 profit lol.

Well on the X Factor there's a 16 year old age limit as well, but there's no maximum age which is good. I think it's wrong to cut out anyone over 35, regardless of how they look.

| The only reason Susan Boyle is so popular, is because she can sing. No one thought that she could sing! I mean, look at her, she's not the prettiest woman i have ever seen, and everyone expects the beautiful woman to sing, not the ugly one. | |

| Overrated movies:
Twilight Harry Potter The Da Vinci Code Terminator X-Men The Spirit Daredevil Ghost
The above movies were all overrated, however I will admit, (with the exception of Terminator, Twilight, and The Spirit) they were all pretty good, they just didn't deserve all the hype they received.

Let me give my view on these movies. Twlight isnt overrated, it's actually hated by society lol. It's just those "screaming fangirls" that love it so much. Harry Potter is just loved by the book readers, it was never thought of as a great movie franchise, it's just a blockbuster. The Da Vinci Code is, well, the Da Vinci Code lol. I thought it was pretty good, but you're right that ones overrated. Terminator was immensely overrated IMO. I agree with you there. However I should shoot you for saying X-Men is overrated cuz I loved those movies but w/e. The Spirit was just shit. Nuff said. Daredevil was overrated but I thought it was a great movie. Never saw Ghost so I cant give my opinion on that.

| The Harry Potter series. Really bad acting in it. | |

| I thought there was too much hype about the Dark Knight. Heath Ledger did a great job with the acting, but I didn't like his role because it strayed too far from what the Joker traditionally is...too much killing imo, as dumb as that sounds. I liked the way Jack Nicholson played the Joker much more. Just my two cents. | |

Really? I loved the dark night. I just didn't like the part when both the boats didn't blow each other up. That would have been really cool! Just my three cents.

I agree with Brawler, The Dark Knight was incredible compared to crap movies that are strangely blowing up the box office right now and previously(Twilight). All the killing in THe Dark Knight made the interesting, and if he wasn't dead, he'd be a badass Shoddy Battle player. Just my four cents :]

| The Dark Knight made everything real. Do you honestly think that Jack Nicholson accurately protrayed a criminal? Not that it was his fault, it was the script. But an insane criminal (like the Joker) will kill, not rob banks. Heath Ledgar obviously cared less about the common "bad guys" job and more about the mentally insane, possibly retarded, evil, twisted "bad guys" job. that's why it was so great. | |

You put that so grandly, you deserve a cigar. If that isn't your personal preference, then a cookie will suffice.

| I'd prefer the latter option chadzi. Make it chocolate chip or I might have to kill you. I'm sorry. | |
